How to setup 2-Factor for Outlook

  1. On your smartphone, open the app store (App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android).
  2. Search for "Microsoft Authenticator" and locate the official app developed by Microsoft
  3. Corporation. Below is what the app icon looks like.

  1. Tap on the app to open its store page.
  2. Click on the "Install" or "Get" button (depending on your device) to download and install the app.
  3. Once it has downloaded, open the Microsoft Authenticator app, click skip in the top right corner if you are prompted to login and click the + symbol in the top right.
  4. Select Work or School Account
  5. Then click Scan QR code. Now go to your desktop.
  6. Now on your computer go to https://office.com
  7. If prompted with "More Information required", click next.
  8. You'll see a screen titled "Additional security verification".
  9. Follow the prompts on your computer.
  10. Once you get to the step to scan the QR on your computer go back to the Authenticator app on your phone to scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen.
  11. Once scanned, the app will be linked to your account.
  12. Follow the prompts on your desktop. It will have you go back to your phone to enter a code.
  13. Once you have entered-* the code you can go back to your desktop and finish following the prompts
  14. Now, when logging in from a new device, you'll be prompted to use the Microsoft Authenticator app for 2-factor verification.
